Through the Lens

GUESS
I'm beginning a push on the next deadline and didn't have much time for a blog today.

A DIFFERENT BARK

So, I thought I'd share some more pictures.

A REAL CREEK

My husband loves photos of wood, tractors, unusual things. I can probably give him credit for me seeing things through a camera lens. I love to capture unusual angles or things we forget to look at.

WIND OR SUN

GETTING TALL

These photos are from a couple of places on a walk back in late February.

Well, I should get back to the writing. Enjoy the pictures.

JULIE MILLER, ASSUMED IDENTITY, June 2013
SHARING: To me, June means the school year is out and summer vacation is on. I've been blessed to take many multi-generational trips across the country with my parents, hubby and son. They're fun to plan--as we try to include something to please each of our tastes, be it something historical, fun & games, gorgeous scenery, great places to eat, and so on.  We all get along well, and have similar, let's-see-where-the-journey-takes-us personalities. Some of our favorite stops have been on impulse, after seeing a sign on the highway or getting a recommendation from a local. It's solid fun family time, and it has been a blessing for my folks and son to be so close and share their life experience and youthful curiosity with each other.  I have more pix than I could possibly share, but this particular one was taken in Springfield, IL, just outside the fabulous Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum. It's my mom and dad in front of one of his favorite stops--the train depot.

ANGI MORGAN, PROTECTING THEIR CHILD, May 2013
SHARING: I love sunsets and some of my favorites have been over the water. This one's at St. Pete's Beach in Florida. The Gulf was in front of us when we experienced some of the best steamed shrimp we've ever eaten. A simple meal from a beach shack we stumbled upon our first night of vacation. We sat at a picnic table, with a perfect view of the gulf, a warm breeze, and a simple warning from the owner to protect your food from the gulls and "please don't feed the birds."

A great relaxing night that happened by accident. I hope everyone gets to experience a beautiful sunset soon.

ROBIN PERINI, BEHIND THE LIES, April 2013
A Montgomery Justice Novel), Amazon’s Montlake Romance, check out the trailer & UNDERCOVER TEXAS (an RT Top Pick and another Carder, Texas book), Harlequin Intrigue, June 2013, check out the trailer

SHARING: When Cowboy in the Crossfire received a Romance Writers of America® RITA® Nomination this year, the amazing folks at Harlequin sent me this wonderful gift. How can I not love Godiva chocolates! Yum!

AIMEE THURLO, FALCON'S RUN, July 2013
The 50th published novel by Aimee & David Thurlo.
SHARING: I'm really excited about this book. The cover depicts Native American Police Detective Preston Bowman, and Abby a woman of many secrets. Abby opens Sitting Tall Ranch, a place for kids who are victims of illness, poverty, abuse. There, they can forget their troubles for at least a little while and just be kids. Detective Preston Bowman has a gift for sensing danger. Together they make an unbeatable team.

REBECCA YORK, CARRIE'S PROTECTOR, July 2013
DESPERATE MAGIC, Chronicles of Arandal, July 2013
SHARING: We've been working hard on making our back garden into an oasis. I love to sit on this pallet on the back porch and work, while I listens to the waterfall in the pond. Cats often sit next to mre, taking the air and watching the birds and squirrels.

SEND US your photographs and we'll post them at the end of the month. Did you see a favorite above?

Old vs. New

I'll keep things short & sweet today, as I'm finishing up a deadline (the last Precinct: Task Force book is almost done!)  But rest assured, I'll stop by to answer questions/comments and chat.  And, I'll have a book to give away... because it's just fun to do nice things for readers who read my books!  Or, to introduce someone new to my books.

Okay, here goes...
Starting in August, Intrigue will be featuring newly redesigned covers.  (In fact, Harlequin is redesigning all their covers this year--adding a few new lines to the new look each month)  Here are my current release, ASSUMED IDENTITY, with the current look, and my September book, TASK FORCE BRIDE, with the new design.  What do you think?  Like one better than the other?  Like elements of one that you'd combine with elements of the other one?  Would you'd like to see something completely different?  Which style better says romantic suspense or says Harlequin to you?  What are some of your favorite covers?  Or does the cover design make any difference to you?

June 2013

September 2013
So let's talk cover art.  I'll give away a book to one lucky poster.  I'll post the winner tomorrow, so please check back then, too.  (The prize can be winner's choice--a backlist title or a copy of ASSUMED IDENTITY--ebook, if available, or print)

Happy Reading,
Julie Miller

Spotlight on June Intrigues: Murder in the Smokies

The Bitterwood P.D. is on the case in the first book of Paula Graves' new miniseries, chasing a killer who's guilty of Murder in the Smokies:

A COLD CASE BROUGHT HIM HOME...

When Sutton Calhoun shook the dust of Bitterwood, Tennessee, off his boots, he never thought he'd return. But now he's back to investigate an unsolved murder and has teamed up with police detective Ivy Hawkins--the only part of the Smoky Mountain hamlet worth remembering.

A STEAMY REUNION WOULD KEEP HIM THERE

Ivy is a hometown girl and well aware of Sutton's reputation. She can't help but find his smoldering eyes resurrecting long-buried feelings. Plus, as the body count rises, Sutton is the only one who believes her that an eerily methodical serial killer is living among them in the shrouded peaks of Bitterwood. Ivy doesn't know which is worse--the desire she feels for a man who's nothing but trouble...or the danger posed by a killer who has them in his sights?
