Happy Spring

I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather and sunshine. Any gardeners? We moved into this house late last fall when the garden was already dormant. I had no idea what kind of flowers and plants the previous owner had planted. So as the garden is awakening it’s all a surprise. I haven’t been planting anything yet (save a few bulbs last fall). There’s plenty of work to be done just with cleaning up, pruning and mulching. I was so excited about all the landscaping on the property when we moved in. Now I’m starting to realize the enormous maintenance it’s going to require. I’m just going to have to fit some gardening sessions in between writing sessions.
Things have been slow for me on the publishing front in 2012 so far, but life is about to speed up. I have a surprise release in May. Top secret for now, but all will be revealed in two weeks. It’s something completely different from what I’ve done so far. Then SPY HARD comes out in June, followed by THE SPY WHO WORE SPURS in July. I’m planning on releasing a single title romantic thriller in the fall, then a Christmas novella anthology with the amazing Julie Miller and Paula Graves in December. I can’t wait!
So tell me what are your plans for this spring? Any gardening? Reading? Special projects with family? Traveling? I’ll raffle off a free book among the commenters. You’ll get to choose something from my back list or an ebook of AGENTS UNDER FIRE. Good luck! And happy spring!

Dana

  1. I can't wait to see what your new release will be. I plan to redo my home study. Its been years since I've painted it and since I have my Dalmatian and German shepherd spending most of their time when I am home there with me a, bigger built in doggy bed since they love to look out the window.

  2. Avi, I've been waiting all winter to paint! We moved in too late in the year last year, too cold outside, and I don't like to paint unless I can keep the windows open for a few days to let the fumes out.

A redone home study with window beds for the dogs sounds fabulous!!!

  3. Hi Dana,

I am enjoying the warmer weather befor the humidity starts. I am off my daughter's Spring Break week. I plan to sleep in, read, take care of some Doctor appointments and pack up my winter clothes.

  4. It has been in the 80s in Chicago -- we've broken all records in the last week, one day by 20 degrees! I started cleaning up the garden last week, then Monday worked with my handyman who did the icky stuff (cleaning the patio) and heavy lifting (bringing out the pots from the shed and basement). I'm waiting to plant to. It's about two months too early. But the crocuses and daffodils are already open, the rosebushes already have the start of leaves and the tulips and bleeding hearts are rising...

  5. Spring plans... adding to our veggie garden... they did amazing during the winter, had a good number of peppers out of it... the summer heat is just too drastic for them to do much, so they seem to enjoy the cooler fall through spring season... add a few trees to the yard... decorate for Easter... fun activities for my little nephew... he is already talking about the Easter Bunny coming...LOL... :) Happy Spring!

  8. I get to spend spring having radiation treatments. I've decided it was going to be a good time planning my retirement. Everything in life works for good so now I shall be availlable to babysit the grandkids! oh and by the way, the radiation is just precaution. The doctor's are sure they got all of the cancer. But I am viewing life from a different angle and being thankful for every little season.

  9. Tammy--Have a fantastic Spring Break!!!

Patricia--I can't believe you had temps in the 80s! Wow. I'm in PA, and I think 72 was our best day.

Colleen--Where are you? I can't do any gardening here in the winter. But I did start tomato and pepper seeds inside. They are ready to go out now.

Quilt Lady--I hope your back improves. Back pain is my biggest challenge, too. Sitting by the computer 10+ hours a day is just plain bad for me.

TXReader--Which one is your favorite team?

Connie--Big hugs. Hope you sail through the radiation without any side effects. You're being very smart by reevaluating what you need and want to do.

  10. I'm in Arizona... we had a really mild winter this year... only had a couple of really cold snaps this time... our plants did really great during the winter... stayed green, flowered and produced some veggies... some years we can get two growing/ producing seasons if the weather stays mild... the summer heat though tends to be too much for them...

I don't have a whole lot of plans for spring. Except to get through tax season and the Rodeo. In between the two I have volunteered to be a judge for the Insprational Reader's Choice Awards. Which means I will be busy but I will also have some great books to read. :) Once the second week of May comes things will finally slow down for me. But my brother is also getting married in Oct so I am sure things will pick back up pretty quickly.
