Best or Worst Valentine Surprise

Winner of my book for the day is Gayle Cochrane. Gayle if you'll send your snail mail addy to me at JoannaWayne@hotmail.com, I'll get your book in the mail.

Okay, admit it, you've had great Valentine Days and ones you'd like to forget-or live down.  How about a some true confessions today. My most romantic surprise was a visit to my house by a barbershop quartet to sing me  a love song and bring me a rose. Would have been far more romantic if dear hubby had actually been there to share it with me. But it was Saturday--so he was on the golf course. Romance just goes so far with him.

He's golfing, I'm writing in tacky pj's with uncombed hair and no makeup. Get the picture. The doorbell rings. I peek out the window and see four middle-age guys in red sports coats that I've never seen before in my life. They have to be selling something. Right? No way am I going to the door. So I stay well hidden while the doorbell rings--and rings--and rings. Then my phone rings. I pick it up and the guy announces that they're at my door to sing me a love song so will I please let them in.

What can I do but pull on my ratty robe and open the door to four jolly men in bright red sports coats who do indeed harmonize to a love song. And give me a rose. And then they want to take my picture with them. You have got to be kidding. No picture, but my hubby did get a big hug and sloppy kiss when he returned victorious from the golf course. After all, he meant well. And he took me out to dinner.

Share a post about your best or worst Valentine's Day for a chance to win two Joanna Wayne novels. And don't forget COWBOY CONSPIRACY is still available from your favorite on-line booksellers.  If your Valentine's Day promises to be a bit lackluster, go to bed with a cowboy. Wyatt Ledger is sure to please.

Hugs to all. Stay warm.
Joanna

  1. Best Valentine's Day.
Flew to San Francisco to join my hubby while he was working. He had flowers waiting in the room and a special dinner arranged. Very nice. It was the first V' Day we'd spent together (he was always out of town) out of the 7 or 8 years we'd known each other.

  3. Valentine's is just another day to us. We "perk" up our days throughout the year instead - whenever the kids aren't home, LOL! That being said, way back about 30 years ago, we exchanged cards. I saved this one, as my DH wrote, "To my dearest sweath heart." Ah ... "ain't" that romantic? (He isn't a great speller, but he more than makes up for it in other ways, still keeping me happy after all these years.)

    1. Those "perk up" dates can add a lot to any romance.

  4. That is such a funny story, and I had to read it to hubby. We love to make Valentines's fun for our little girl, and one time we surprised her with a large pink unicorn. The hubby always works, and we aren't going to win any awards for most romantic but he brought me flowers the week before V-day.

    1. A large pink unicorn. I love that. I remember loving Valentine's Day as a kid when we all exchanged those funny, cheap Valentines in school. So fun. And sometimes they had lollypops with them or candy hearts. Still have to read every candy heart I eat.

    1. Kind of neat to be a birthday Valentine. Your parents and your hubby sound special. Give all of them a hug for me. And Happy Birthday--a little early.

  7. My best Valentine's surprise happened in college. We had only been dating a month and he gave me a necklace and a huge teddy bear. I had never had a man give me jewelry before. We were engaged less than two months later.

  10. I guess my best Valentines was when my husband went out and bought ear rings for me had them attached to a rose and put inside a balloon. He usually doesn't do anything for Valentines day so it made it more special that way.
