Measuring Sunsets

No dog adventures today.
No really big news.

I came back tanned and relaxed. Missed the pups, played with the pups who seem to have missed me and shadowed me for three days. I've got my head down, writing after a week-long stay in Florida. St. Pete's Beach to be exact. While we were there, we kept track of our days by sunsets.

This is a picture from our first night's dinner and sunset. We actually saw the "green flash" and had fresh boiled shrimp and crab legs. Awesome meal. Everyone kept directing us to restaurants, our reply: Anywhere to eat on the beach? We can eat inside in Texas anytime.

Second night we went to a Texas Rangers' game (they happened to be playing in Tampa Bay--lol).  I think half the stands were Ranger Fans. Nice stadium. We were actually cold from the air conditioning (it's enclosed).

Their Ray tank was pretty cool. Can't believe my pictures turned out so well.

The third sunset was on Anna Maria Island accompanied by our favorite meal: red snapper that had been caught on the boat that morning, scallops, fresh coconut shrimp (tasted like it was still in the coconut) and the most amazing desert of kumquat pie. It was the oddest thing, part of the restaurant was a private party getting married on the beach, so we witnessed their ceremony (couldn't hear it because of the waves) and then watched them get their wedding pictures. One thing I would have changed...the bride and groom were wearing shoes.

Sunset number four was after a terrific day on the number 1 natural beach in America. We stopped on the drive back and had fresh toasted coconut ice cream, made locally. Oh and did I mention that just before that we had Hawaiian shave ice? Yes, the ice cream was a second scoop.  Tim took this picture and called it: CUP O' SUNSET FOR TWO

Our last sunset...dinner on the beach, followed by sitting in the sand and watching the sun fall behind the horizon. Then a fruity coconut drink and a walk along the shore.

VERY PEACEFUL -- I even brought back a little to share.
I guess summer's officially over, even here in Texas the temperatures have dropped and we turned off the AC.  SO WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER MOMENT? Did you have a cool sunset to share?

Leave a blog comment and you'll be entered in a drawing for a B&N $10 gift card. And I remember --those of you have left comments for my past two blogs will be entered once for each comment.

I'm getting excited, my next release DANGEROUS MEMORIES isn't too far away now. The cover should be available soon.

  3. Beautiful pics of your beach vacation. It's the perfect getaway. My favorite summer moment didn't include a sunset but a road trip from New York to Texas with my son. We were both so excited to come back.

  6. Oh those are great pics! I see some outstanding sunsets near me, but have not actually gone out and taken any pics... I should do that one day! Fav summer moments, staying inside with the AC! :) Still hot here!

    1. Sorry about the hot, Colleen. I'm in long sleeves with the window open. Reminds me of freexing my tail off during football games in high school. Awesome.

And you should take pictures. I love to use them as wallpaper and screen savers.

  7. Angi, beautiful pictures. Loved the video. I had 4 nice nights of sunsets when on vacation at Wildwood NJ. My motel sat a block off the beach with no tall buildings between me and the boardwalk and ocean. I was able to get some good pictures of the fireworks on the 4th. I must also include that the sunrise's were spectacular. I did not think to get any pictures of either one.

    1. I would loved to have seen some. A fall trip to the far northeastern states has always been on my wish list. I will someday.

  8. I had shaved ice when we visited Hawaii. My go to flavor is passion fruit. We had some great moments this summer including a few of the summer blockbusters we enjoyed and we had a fun time over the Labor Day weekend.

    1. Shave Ice on the North Shore for the first time in my life on my birthday in 2009. We didn't know what to order so we told the guy to make his favorite. Did you have it with condensed milk dribbled on top?

What pretty pictures. This summer has been super crazy. Lots of things went wrong. :( But at least my mom found a new car! Plus there is less than a month till my brother gets married.

  10. HI Angi,

Love your pictures, Glad you had a great time. I am fuzzy brained now - sick with a sinus infection. But, I did have fun this summer back in my home town. I had a nice lunch with my best friends at my favorite pizza restaurant and it was a clear and sunny day and the Pacific Ocean looked so pretty.

  11. So lovely, Angi. There's not much more soothing than ocean waves on a beautiful night. And the sea can reflect just about any mood, too. Looks like you had a fabulous romantic getaway--it sounds purely idyllic. Good for you--and thanks for sharing!

  12. Great pictures, Angi! Your vacation sounds wonderful.

You have inspired me to start measuring my autumn with sunrises. Going to get up early and greet the morning.

Right now there is a beautiful pink (but slowly turning orange) sunrise in Victoria. All is good at my writing desk.
