Shopping Hungry!

I went to the grocery store hungry yesterday. Big Mistake! Somehow I ended up on the "starch" aisle. When I got home I had
  • Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce
  • Alfredo Pasta Sauce
  • T raditional Pasta Sauce
  • Tri-color gnocchi
  • Asparagus Risotto
  • Pumpkin Risotto
  • Three-herb cous-cous
  • Fettuccini
  • Angel-hair pasta
Are we seeing a pattern here? So when I got home, my husband asked me where I was going to put all the pasta I'd bought. He wasn't impressed that I had bought all this for him.

Later that evening, full of Tri-color gnocchi with spinach and pesto sauce, I got to thinking about going to the book store hungry.

If you're as old as I am, you can remember those days. Running to the book store to see if there were any new romances on the shelves, because back then there weren't enough romance books to keep me satisfied for an entire month--or however long it took for more to come in. I hungrily devoured all the new books that came out that I could afford, and impatiently waited for more.

Often, I read books I wasn't especially excited about because I needed to read and my favorite authors weren't writing enough.

Do you guys feel like there are more books out there today than you could ever read? And is that a good thing for you?

  1. So many choses and so little time. Yes there is more books out there then I can ever read. I wish I was a speed reader. There is just so many books I want to read and I don't have the time to read them all. I love trying new authors but I also have my favorite authors, which do you choose. I guess its a good thing but sometime I have trouble deciding what to read.

  2. There are so many books on the shelves. Sometimes it is so hard to choose, because I usually buy 2 to 3 books on a trip to the bookstore, so I have to choose wisely. Then I'll tell myself to remember a title I can buy next time, except by next time I forget the title. LOL

  3. If you could see my TBR pile of books you would understand when I say "there are far more books out there than I can ever read." But I keep buying them and trying to keep up, which is a lost cause.

  5. Yes there are a lot of books out there but I don't let that stop me from trying to read as many as I can :)

  6. It does seem like there are more books out there than ever before. I'm always getting emails from Amazon giving me a heads up as to what books are coming out soon.

  7. Ah, the TBR pile. How do you deal with it? Mine is kind of like my Netflix queue. I keep changing toe order and adding new ones.

Sadly, my dh has the horrible 'hermit' gene. He's incapable of releasing his hold on any book, so we have more bookcases in our house than many people have books!

I found a quote somewhere that said "I think Heaven must be a library."

    Wouldn't that be ideal? :)

  8. I have read constantly all of my life. When I was a fifth grader the librarian told me she was running out of books for me to read. I used to stop alsmost every day on my way home from school and most days all summer. I loved that place. And I loved her because she loved to read as much as I did. Now I can't find the time for all the books out there that I want to read. So many books so little time.

  9. Oh, yeah, there are many more books that I want to read than I have time to read (even if I could afford them all!) My TBR pile keeps growing. It does give me a sense of security to have a lot of books available, though.
