Ahhh, love

Ahhhh, love is in the air.

No, I'm not just talking about books, even though my Jan. Intrigue, BRANDED BY THE SHERIFF, definitely has a love story. I'm also talking about a wedding. My son, who's a lieutenant in the Air Force, popped the question to his girlfriend, and they're now engaged. Yay!

The proposal was a surprise to his girlfriend--first he gave her a Christmas ornament with a gawdy fake ring in a glass box. He told her next year they could put it on their first Christmas tree. (Paraphrasing here) She asked--we'll have our first tree next year? And he said--we will if you'll marry me.

Ahhh.

So,tell me your favorite proposal story, and to celebrate all this love in the air, I'll give away a copy of my Intrigue, SECURITY BLANKET.

  1. Hi Delores,
When my husband proposed to me he found my copy of THE WEDDING KNIGHT by Joanne Rock and tied a beautiful 1/2 carat diamond ring to the ends of a bookmark. It was perfect! Part of his e-mail addy is KNIGHT. My story appeared in a RTBookreviews magazine years ago thanks to Joanne. She also had it put in a Harlequin newsletter and sent me a copy.

  2. Our now son-in-law and daughter went to wine festival in MO on her birthday. As they walked around that eveing they wandered into a kareoke bar. He had been hearing other tables talking about celebrating birthdays so after his turn at singing he called all those with birthdays that weekend to come up to the stage. He then led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday". As everyone sat down he stopped Jen, dropped to one knee, and proposed in front of everyone. Thank goodness the answer was yes.

  4. My story is funny and a bit romantic, I got married at 22 and was divorced at 27. I vowed to never marry again. The next man I dated after my divorce had never been married before. After dating for a year, he said he wanted to get married. I told him I would get married again when pigs fly. By then we were living together and from time to time he would propose again and I would have the same answer. After we moved to North Carolina together and I was now 29. I heard Van Morrison's song Moondance in the car driving home from work and it hit me. I wanted this man in my life forever. When I got home I told him I love you with all of my heart and I always want to be with you, so let's get married. He called his Mom to give her the news and she said "Look, I see a flying pig" We got married in 1994 and are still together and very happy.

  7. Congrats to your son and future daughter!!! My husband is not a romantic. His proposal was so great I can hardly remember it, but then it was 25 years ago. I think he just handed me the box with the ring in it and said will you marry me! Sad way to do it, but I guess it worked for him.

  9. My brother went all out when he proposed to his wife. He proposed while they were on a vacation trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. He paid for a skywriter to write "I Love You. Will You Marry Me." over the ocean. He had planned it weeks ahead of time, not knowing that on the day he planned to propose he would be in terrible pain from a kidney stone. He felt really bad, but made sure to get her to the spot where he knew the skywriting would be at the appointed time. She thought he was nuts because instead of going to the doctor he was wanting to take a walk down the beach. She was so surprised when she read the skywriting, she did not even think it was meant for her until my brother pulled out the ring. That is a day neither one of them will ever forget.
